Wayne Rooney may not be returning to play for England in the forthcoming World Cup - but son Kai may be hot on his heels.

The eight-year-old was pictured showing off some ball skills on the beach in Barbados this week, while dad Wayne sat on the sidelines looking after younger son Kit.

Kai - Wayne - Coleen - Sons - Flair

Kai, the eldest of Wayne and Coleen's four sons, displayed a natural flair for the sport as he called upon granddad Tony McLoughlin for an energetic kickabout on the sands.

Sporty Kai couldn't be missed in a pair of bright red swimming trunks, as he spent hours bonding with his grandfather at sunset.

Kai cooled down at the edge of the water, booting the football to his granddad, with some vibrant facial expressions that indicated his keen interest in his father's sport.

Nevertheless, Wayne couldn't have seemed further from the sport as he took time to unwind with the family on one of their first group trips to Barbados in over a year.

Wayne and Coleen are currently away with their four sons, Kai, eight, Klay, five, Kit, two, and four-month-old baby Cass.

They are sharing the trip with Coleen's parents Tony and Colette McLoughlin, who were providing a helping hand to busy new parents Wayne and Coleen.

It's their first trip since the arrival of their fourth child Cass, and also their first holiday together in Barbados since last May.

Coleen has often been seen taking holidays with her parents, while Wayne concentrates on his international footballing career.

Everton - FC - Player - Return - England

Nevertheless, the Everton FC player ruled out a return to England last December, after officially retiring from international football.

His former comrades will play their first game in the 2018 competition next month, after the team was announced last week.
