Ariana Grande fought back tears as she appeared in her first television interview since the Manchester Arena terrorist attack.

The singer, 24, visibly welled during an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, marking her first televised appearance since the bombing just under a year ago.

Fallon, 43, praised the One Last Time hitmaker for her bravery after the tragic event and thanked her for coming on the show.

Jimmy said: 'I haven't seen you in over a year probably and I haven't seen you since the tragic events that happened in Manchester.

'I know it's just tough for everybody, tough for fans and tough for you, and I know you haven't done any interviews, and I understand that.

'I just wanted to say thank you so much for coming on the show and for being strong and for entertaining and for showing up and going back to Manchester and doing a benefit.

In response, Ariana appeared to well up and said: 'Thanks, thank you.'

Songstress - Programme - No - Tears - Cry

The songstress appeared on the programme to promote her new single No Tears Left To Cry, which she later performed to the audience.

The host then quoted message that Ariana shared on Instagram at the time, which read: 'We won't let hate win.
